PHASE I : SPS Back-office Implementation
Fall 2010
The UA will begin the implementation of the Sponsored Projects Services’ Kuali Coeus back office platform for proposals and awards. This will allow the University of Arizona to “turn off” their current grants management system SPINS.
Strategy: Sponsored Projects will data enter paper proposals and incoming awards into the Research Administration system as of July 1, 2010. SPS will continue to data enter proposals and awards into their current system SPINS until it is decided that KC is sustainable enough to generate reports from UA Access.
Impact to Campus: There will be very little if any impact to campus. The current proposal routing form is being modified to capture data elements that are needed for the new Research Administration system. This PRS modification is already in place and is currently being used by campus. UAccess Analytics reports will be made available to users, utilizing proposal and award statistics with data starting fiscal year 2011 (July 1, 2010). Users who wish to get the same information from previous fiscal years will utilize the same tools as they are currently using.
Campus Participation: Very little participation will be needed from campus for Phase 1. Campus will be asked to participate in the UAccess Analytics portion once reports have been developed.
Fall 2011
Phase 2 : Research Administration proposal development deployment to campus utilizing a pilot project approach.
